Hardwood floors are most often presented as practical, stable and ordinary. And even if the straightforward and narrow stereotype applies, wooden floors have far more expertise in style than you would think. Damaged in smaller portions, they are as complex as tiles (and much friendlier). Even in their longboard form there are significant variations. Here is an introduction to the probabilities: straight, diagonal, parquet and more.
Regardless of whether the boards are positioned parallel or perpendicular to a wall, you can better visualize the appearance of the room.
The unique appearance can also be performed by playing with board lengths. Would you like an offset laying of the floor with panels of the same length? Or flooring with randomly laid panels of certain size? Or room-wide planks that offer a brand-new, enduring appearance (but at a better price)?
Random Vs. Patterned joint impressive
If a straight parquet floor is laid, the joints of the planks are staggered to get both structural (the ends are the weakest factor) as well as aesthetic (to prevent a uniform vertical joint line running across the floor) explanations. Most installations have a random amount of gaps to maintain the linear focus of the panels as the primary design feature. The unbelievable can also be patterned so that the joints are evenly distributed - a stair pattern - or with alternating joint alignment - the so-called H-pattern.
Random width flooring patterns have arisen from the need for early planks to be milled from the entire trunk, resulting in a few unique widths. Nowadays, arbitrary floor designs are intentional and most often use boards of three different widths in a repeating pattern.
Facing hardwood floor is preferred for simple, linear spaces these days. Even if the common width is between 5 and 10 cm, boards in different widths are available. In other words, as you start looking at very large planks - 10 inches and more - the choice of wood is limited and costs go up. Old wood is everything that can be expected for a wider choice of wide boards.
To create a diagonal pattern, the panels are placed at an angle of 45 degrees (or an identical angle) to the walls parallel to each other.
A good choice for small spaces, a diagonal floor sample can make a room look bigger, as attention is directed to the corners of the room rather than to the walls.
Parquet is any design that uses a geometric mosaic of square pieces of wood. These designs flourished for the duration of the Renaissance, ranging from straightforward to dazzlingly artistic. Some of our favorite parquet patterns include:
The badge tells the story: This shape creates the illusion that the boards are woven above and below. There are a variety of basket braids. By way of illustration, you can use individual or groups of alternating boards or insert rectangular tiles between the "woven" boards.
